There I am, at a recent school reunion.
I have always liked to be able to do my own thing and that's probably the reason I haven't settled yet, I have done many things so-far in life as you will see from the menu on the left - I will add to them from time to time when an update is needed.
After many years of moving around I have settled at least in what I now do, I am what they may call a fan of the internet - I have been known not to leave my pc for days at a time and even when I am not doing anything in particular my email is checked every 2 minutes - you see, I don't want to miss out on anything, I like to know whats going on in the World and in particular I am always interested in a good deal.
You will see in the 'Recommended Services' section that I have some things that I have been using for some time and would recommend to anyone else, I consider those to be good - I must also say that over the years I have tried many things so I am saving you all of that trouble should you need anything like I have included.
With my lifestyle at the moment I need to find things to do which take my mind off of my current project at hand, I tried the Gym but found myself running on the spot thinking 'I could use my time better on my PC' so gave that up after 12 months.
Now I like to go climbing, I know what your thinking "Norfolk is Flat - where does he climb, is this a joke?".. Well there is an indoor wall not far from me which I use.
I love it because I can honestly say that it does take my mind off of things - if you haven't tried this before I suggest you do, and soon before you feel too old because when your on that wall all you can think about is your next move.. because you don't want to fall off and look silly.
Actually you wouldn't fall far as you are on a rope and your mate has the other end (your life in his/her hands) - its just that you naturally don't want to fall so try your hardest not to.
Please feel free to browse my website, Play some games - Read some articles and watch some video's.. If you see something you like or find funny please use the 'Simple Options' at the top left of each page to share it on Facebook or what ever social networking site you use.
My Background:
Most people know me as a DJ (<-- See this link for more details on that) as I made that my main business for most of my life up until 2002 when I returned from Greece (<-- CLick that to see my Corfiot exploits), not many people know that not long after returning to the UK I decided to fulfil a long standing ambition to become qualified as a Sound Engineer - well, it was a logical step to gain a full understanding of this 'science'.
(Left you see me as a Pontins Blue Coat in 1990, this job certainly did teach me a thing or Two about the entertainment business - Even though we had to work from 10am until 1am every day for £60 a week it was certainly a worthwhile thing to do.)
Another reason for me wanting to gain a full understanding of sound was because at the time I was with a SInger/Songwriter who was also dedicating her time to music - I wanted to be able to engineer her gig's and recordings properly, everyone a winner !
I had scoured the internet for a Sound Engineering course, at this time I was living in Solihull so was more or less in the center of the UK but most of the courses I found were in London and cost an absolute fortune. One day I happened upon a company just down the road from me in Coventry, it was 'GlassHouse Productions' who were running basic and advanced courses at a reasonable rate.. what luck !
So, I went for an interview and was put onto the advanced course - This was an excellent course, it went in depth to a great degree (and I don't just mean 'Bit Depth').
Whilst I was there I became friendly with another student, he joined my partners band so we did get to see each other practically every day - he had an impressive background with great equipment and an extensive knowledge of the craft as a whole.
On the right --> you can see the main mixer we used at Glasshouse - this was all analogue and we used 2 inch tape.. and people wonder why I am not phased by other desks !
This was Phil Ball. We went onto form a PA Hire & Recording business (GreyBall PA Hire) - I still keep that basic website on my server for posterity HERE.
Both Phil and I had a yellow transit van (One each) which we used to fill with equipment and arrive on location hours before the job so we could get set up and be fully ready for the recording session - this went well and everybody was happy.. again 'Everyone a winner'.
The PA hire side of the business was us engineering bands, I would look after the FOH (front of house) and Phil would be in charge of the Monitor Mix (very important) - we had the latest digital recording devices and top equipment in general, you can see all of this on the old website HERE.
This all went very well, we even ended up with uniforms which comprised an Embroidered shirt and hat - all in black with our logo proudly displayed.
Both Phil and I passed the Advanced Sound Engineering course with distinction and continued with our business.

Here is our typical mobile engineering set up, we weren't recording this gig so this was all we needed - obviously you cant see our mountain of speakers out front, I just wanted to show you my area - nice and tidy :)
Since then I moved to Norwich, Phil moved to South End - this obviously means that GreyBall PA Hire is no longer operating but Phil does still offer a recording service from his Ashby Studios HERE
I got into full time Online Marketing/Promotions but have been known to still dabble in sound in one way or another.
